I am looking into a hotel closest to Smitty's as we can for people to stay in. Can I have a head count who would also like to stay at the same hotel? We had discussed it at Mountain Moped's ride. I would like to find a hotel that has a restaurant and bar in it where we can eat and visit. These are limited in that area. I will look around and see what I come up with.

I guess I need to be taking a day off from work to map-out the entire Ride route !!! It's going to be really hard to top the Tail of the Dragon Ride that Bryan and Jeanie hosted for us, but we'll make it an enjoyable one nonetheless ;^)
We actually found another very pretty lake a few days ago that we may add to our Ride route as well ... we found it while going to pick up more fish aquariums, LOL!!!

We're off exit 392 (or 392B, depending on which way you are traveling), on I-40. Take the 11W / Rutledge Pike, Knoxville Zoo exit, and turn right (opposite the zoo). We're about 14 miles off I-40 ... 1.1 miles past the Grainger County / Blaine City limit sign, on the right. My SmC mopeds & Customs sign is still in the front yard. We'll all meet here Saturday morning, and hope to begin riding at 10am ... unless Jeanie gets here early, then we'll hit the road at 8:30am, LOL!!! Just picking Jeanie ;^)

Looking forward to seeing all of you again, and hopefully even more Riders as well !!!

Well a couple of hotels with restaurants are already booked. There is a new Comfort Suites East on exit 398 in Knoxville is the best one I came up with. There are a lot of good restaurants at this exit too. This is a new hotel and the beds look very plush!! It is around $90 a night. The hotel looks good to me. The best one in the area that is closest to Smitty. They have at least 4 rooms available. Google Comfort Suites East and take a look. I vote for this one. Tell me what you think.

Make sure you hit the AAA rate OR the Internet user rate. It is right below where the date is and how many in a room. I am going to make a reservation very soon. You can always cancel within 24 hours I believe or before 6 PM the day of arrival. You would have to check it out. So if you think you may go it may be a good idea to book it now and cancel if you have too. That way we all get to stay in a nice hotel and it is close to restaurants too. Cool...another ride to go to in the beautiful state of Tennessee! The mohawk momma's are ready!! LOL

Hey Smitty, what type of places will we be riding? By that I mean hills, real big hills, mostly flat, ect. Also at what altitude are we going to be riding? Thanks, Jeff PS: Just trying to get my ped super tuned for your area.

We are at about 900ft above sea-level. I believe most of the ride is moderate as far as hills go, but there are some fairly steep ones, although I don't think any of them are as steep as the ones we climbed last year at the Mountain Mopeds Ride.

I just booked our room at the Comfort Suites East for Smitty's ride. The rooms are going fast, it says on line there are only 4 rooms left, then I checked back and it said only one room left so who knows. The hotel next door only has 4 rooms left. I suggest you make your hotel room as soon as you can. I do know of other hotels at this same exit if you want to PM me or Jeff, I can let you know which ones are there. I am certainly glad I booked this one now and didn't wait! I really like this hotel. It looks real nice. I would hate for people to have to stay farther away from Smitty's.

So, do you need a D.L. to ride a moped in Tennessee? I mean, come on it's a bit faster then my mower (I was told it hit around 20 mph). I'm asking this because I just got a 1978 Honda Hobbit P50 (type1), it has all the original parts, I drained the gas that has been sitting in it for 7 years (got it from my Teacher for free ^_^) and the fuel line wasn't all gunk-ed up, so I think the carb. is OK, I also have to hot wire it since it was stolen in 1987 (Thief broke off the key switch, but police found it and gave the, then, owner back the moped). I moved to Tennessee about two/three years ago, and I'm not sure on the laws for mopeds.

From my understanding you do need a regular Driver's license to operate a Moped in Tennessee ... however, I do not know if a Moped license is required if you do not have a regular driver's license. I'll have to research that one further. Thanks for the question!
