Police on the hunt for bikers after brawl
POLICE are still on the lookout for around 80 youngsters believed to have attacked officers in their patrol cars in the early hours of Friday morning.
The incident started when Paralimni police were called to investigate noise disturbances caused by motorcyclists.

The two police officers found around 100 young people riding motorbikes and mopeds up and down the main street.

The police restored order until the patrol car was called away to investigate an emergency. Leaving the scene, and under circumstances still being investigated, the police vehicle collided with a moped carrying two 14-year-olds.

The youngsters were injured and taken to Paralamni General Hospital, where one of them received first aid and was released, while the second was transferred to a private clinic, where he was diagnosed with a fractured leg and admitted for treatment.

That in turn prompted around 250 angry youths to turn up on motorbikes and mopeds and the fracas escalated into a full blown brawl.

Around ten youngsters were arrested on the night after officers called urgently for back up.

Yesterday, a police source at Paralimni police station told the Sunday Mail that “the preliminary investigations are still in process because a lot of statements need to be taken”.

The officer added he was unsure when charges would be made.

“There were so many people there that we are still looking for most of them. As you can understand that is not going to be easy so there is no way of knowing when or how many people we will officially charge in court,” the source added.
