Took a ride on this....

Postby Ike » Wed Jul 13, 2011 10:04 pm

Jeff and I went to the Vintage Motor bike show in Portland Ind. yesterday. I spotted this machine and had a long discussion with the owner. He told me to take a ride on it . I couldn`t resist.
This thing felt weird and would take some getting used to. I am not sure if i liked it or not? I never left the fairgrounds on it and never got to get up much speed. I think i may have liked it better if i could have rode it on the highway at higher speeds. Seems strange to just jump off and not have to put the stand down. It just leans over a little and stops.
This was the 50 cc version. I know i wouldn`t like that. Top speed was only 36mph. They do have a 150 cc version.
I do kind of like the looks of this bike, and I like it better than the trikes with two wheels in the rear.
I hope Tomos comes out with these. I could get one way cheaper!

the issue with the trikes with rear duel wheels has been
the transmission & differential .
the single wheel in the rear and the standard motor/trans
with the 2 in the front is the way to go, for sure..

A 50cc version with a top speed of 36 MPH defies logic. If that's as fast as you can go, then you're going to have to pull over and yield to faster traffic from time-to-time. That's not so hard on a two-wheeled vehicle. That reverse-trike, on the other hand, is as wide as a small car, isn't it? Where is one supposed to pull over with that thing?

If it's wide enough to require a lane, then it needs to be fast enough to stay in one.

That is like the electric trikes that the old farts ride around the grocery store. Ike and Gomez would look good on those :^)

Sure looks like the Ice Bear Falcon with the leaning front wheels but they dont seem to offer that one in a 50cc. I like the idea of a reverse trike.

I would think that the wide wheel base would make it hard to turn, piaggio makes several models and the old honda gyro was ahead of its time with a swivil frame.

I have an IB trike but we wont go into that. Sooner or later a trike of some sort is in my future as the old right knee is not what it used to
be. The Piaggio MP3 250 looks interesting. The tadpole trikes appeal
to me but I want to wait to see more on the road and tested before I
would commit to one.
