1982 Honda MB5 barn fresh find to be restored. Lucky, that the bike is 99% there and not seized. Thanks Jeff for the Honda manual. Parts ordered today from PerkLLC. 70 cc kit, bearings, seals, gasket set, small end bearing. should be a fun project. Tank is clean, one less thing to worry about.

Here's my winter project. I just got it this morning. It's a 1957 Sears Allstate MS50 moped. 99% complete except for toolbox cover. Even came with original 1957 title, owner's manual, service manual, and rear baskets. She was repainted black years ago, but I'm debating whether to tear her all down and properly paint her with OEM Allstate red paint.

Nice Larry, saw it on MA this morning. They also had an awesome blue one. Black was in the UK too. But then they were not a Sears Allstate but a Puch MS50. Mine I need to jump through a couple of hoops for a ownership but it is doable with a self declaration, notarized.

Lar,
Is your Allstate a manual 2 speed moped?

Back when I was about 10 or 11 the owner of the local hardware store in our small town owned an Allstate moped just like that one. We used to walk by the store to just look at at on the way home from school every day. Every boy in the school wanted one like it. I used to wear the Sears catalogs out looking at the mopeds and the small scooter. I tried to buy one of the small scooters at an auction a couple of years ago but was out-bid--it went for $1,500.

Really if the motor is good you only need to possibly match the transfers, polish the exhaust port and match, larger carb and a pipe. Maybe have a look at doing better reeds. This bike has 12000+ klms on it so probably have a look see inside! It ran last summer, but who knows how long and how well. Seals definitely will need doing probably, maybe the bearings. Still too cold for me in the shed!

John I just sold my Mb5 to Kenny Sampson who is doing some magic on it and is prepping for the Lake Erie loop. 73 and still blastin' away. We'll keep you posted.
Just agreed to buy a Newport L from MopedLar. I'll pick it up when I come up for his ride. You gotta love Larry he does it right. Wardie
