Scooter Riders Association?

Postby mopedlar » Sat Apr 06, 2013 7:43 am

Is it just my imagination, or does it seem that all of us old moped riders have become scooter converts? I still enjoy riding mopeds, but I choose my scooter 99% of the time over my mopeds when I want to go out for a ride. For me it has to do with reliability, comfort and engine power.

You are right Lar. I choose a scooter for more power to get out of the way. I ride in my plat which is 25mph speed limit. On a stock 50cc that only goes 32 I get people up my tail pipe. They roll more like 38-40mph.

Yup, scooters and motorcycles. Still have 3 mopeds in various stages of build or storage though.

Each bike has there own favorite niche. Your moped ride is perfect for mopeds. I find that going for a ride on the mopeds is more about enjoying the road and scenery and the comraderie of friends then for travel. A sixty mile ride on mopeds is an enjoyable day ride where on the scooter it's just getting warmed up. I found the same thing on my touring bikes..We had to travel 500 miles before we felt like we had gone anywhere. Both are enjoyable, I just have to have the right attitude for which bike I am on.

Moe, when did you get the Burgman? Did you sell the 3-wheel Vespa?

Mopeds are still a lot of fun to ride. Scooter or motorcycle is better for serious travel.

Moe, that's one beautiful Burgman. I think it really pops in white. Plus, you gotta love the electric mirrors. Best of luck with it.

Keep the maintenance on the transmission up. Lots of issues there! Looks good Moe.
