there are several decent offerings in the $1500-$2300 price range.
Tomos Nitro 150 - Eaton Sport 150 are 2 that come to mind.

What do you consider cheap? If you're looking to the other Chinese brands advertized for around $1000 or less I agree with Mopedlar. Some are OK if taken care of but you'll be in trouble if anything goes on them as parts availablility/ dealer sources is not good.
You're better off paying a little more and buying from a reputable dealer.

hehehe....They're ALL made in China. (the reasonably priced ones anyway) It's just some are made better then others. It seems the lower the price, the lower the quality and support.

Good Luck,

The decent 125cc bikes are generally going to cost at least $2,700. One exception is the Kymco Agility 125, which I believe has a list price of about $2,000. You might also check out Keeway (Chinese, but allegedly decent) or Sym.

If you really want to spend no more than $1,500, then your best bet is to find a good used machine, preferably built in Japan, Taiwan, or Korea (or, possibly, India). A bunch of folks went out and bought scooters when gas prices peaked and now a lot of them never get ridden. (Sounds familiar, like the moped craze of the late 1970's.) So keep an eye on craigslist.
