Scored a freebie- Honda C70

Postby supercub » Sun Apr 18, 2010 9:04 pm

I got an '81 Honda C70 from a guy I met on a ride, it is solid but needs some work, The top end looks ok but needs new rings and a hone, as it was stuck and he freed it up. The tank is rusted out.
Missing the carb, legshield and seat, battery, but I have a carb, a rebuilt head, and some other spares so I'm not looking at much money to get her on the road.
I'm thinking just a touch-up and blend on the paint, custom dunstall style seat with hood end, and a top tank.
I really love these bikes, it will be cool to fix up another one.

What's cool about these bikes are that they are such sleepers, people are shocked when they just dart away from a stoplight.

I'm just going to pick up parts little by little as I find them.

Just to update, I haven't been doing any wrenching on the bike but I did win a freespirit tube mount tank on ebay that is close to the color of the bike, I will go for a moped-look. I want to explore the possibility of putting handlebars on it instead of the pressed steel unit, and a bullet headlight. I will make a cafe style seat for it, and tuck all of the electrics under the seat and make aluminum covers to go over the areas there the plastic side covers used to be. The bike will have more of a leaner look.
